The UK, as a nation, is in the process of a substantial rise in cognitive function disorders which includes conditions like Dementia and Alzheimers. Unfortunately, Dementia and Alzheimers are now the UK’s number 1 cause of death, overtaking cardiovascular disease.

In the last 5 years, the UK has seen a 56% rise in Dementia diagnoses. Statisticians predict that the number of cases will only continue to rise, and by 2021, they predict 1,000,000 diagnosed cases in the UK, affecting 7% of the total over 65-year-old population. However, it is not only the over 65 population who should be concerned with their cognitive health as early-onset numbers also continue to rise.

With an increased ageing population and an increase in lifestyle health dysfunctions, this makes the identification of health factors that can lead to the existence of these conditions ever more important. These assessments should be carried out long before they become established.
